Paddy Fahey’s #31

This week Kevin Crawford posted this lovely video playing Paddy Fahey’s #31 on the second anniversary of composer Paddy Fahey’s passing.

Within the reel, I heard the distinctive rhythm of a crooked Connemara jig step that I have from my friend Martina Venneman from Maam, Co. Galway. Seosamh Ó Neachtain from An Spidéal, Co. Galway also dances these patterns within his reel steps.

As soon as I heard the tune, I knew I wanted to experiment with joining the jig and reel steps together to suit the tune.
